News Win Tickets to MGMT

I know we’re only a few weeks into 2008, but can we just crown the Yeasayer/MGMT concert as the best show of the year and get over with it? It’s rare that two up and coming acts not only live up to the hype, but perform together on the same night, and on the same stage.

Lucky you.

Make that luckier you, that is if you win this contest for a pair of tickets to their Wednesday, January 30th show at Holocene.

Free tickets? What’s the catch? All you have to do is listen to my Amway presentation post a comment and explain why you deserve the tickets. That’s it.

The best comment posted before Friday at 5pm wins. Be sure you leave your email address when you post, otherwise I’ll gleefully shred the tickets, or just give them to someone more attractive than you.

Good luck.

Yeah, shit, I'm going to be in SF when that tour hits San Diego, and then I'll be visiting San Diego when the tour is in SF.

I'm thinking about changing my ticket to go to San Diego a day earlier so I can see it. Hmm.

hay guys, how about you trade me them capes for a few well-placed vowels?

The tickets deserve me. I will make them feel like little children screaming for ice cream. Then deny them of said ice cream, and wear it on my face.

I deserve these tickets because not only is it my birthday which means I have a tremendous sense of entitlement, but also I have a rare condition in which if I'm kept from dancing at uber hip shows, I start punching everyone in the throat named Ezra. And it will stop me from huffing gas like I always do on Wednesdays.

What is that tag the keyboardist plays at the very end? It's bugging the shit out of me.

(not playing)

Oh. Duh. I've placed it now. Never mind. How disappointing.

Another song by MGMT, "Electric Feel," is featured in this week's episode of Your Radio Sucks! Check it out here:

(shamelessly promoting, and still not playing)

Jesus, sorry to keep posting here. I'm not playing, I swear.

I should also mention that another MGMT track, "Weekend Wars," is playing on Andrew's brand-new episode of Easier Than Reading.

Check it:

If I win these tickets, I can't promise you that the elementary schools will be fixed or there will be peace in the middle east.

Those would be lies.

But I know what you, and the rest of America really needs. And that I can promise you. Chickeny chicken. That mythical taste from the old days.

okay, it's not my birthday and i don't have an involuntary punching condition but my god have i had the shittiest week, filled with the drudgery of being a corporate hack, the disappointing realization that my current boyfriend is kind of an asshole and the immense frustration of an increasingly heated custody battle over my precious pooch with the last asshole.

i know it's all sort of a pathetic plea, but take pity. i could really use an excuse to drink too much and watch messy haired boys in capes play weird fabulous music.

I've been dying to see MGMT since my ex lives in Brookyln and just loves to tell me what I'm missing out on.

And I was sly enough to wait until the last minute to size up the competition.
