There comes a time in a young man's life when he, on the cusp on turning 30, must look back and reflect on his past 29 years and wonder "why in the hell do I have a Texas is the Reason bootleg?" It's a question that spans generations (my father had the same inquiry, just swap Texas is the Reason for the Five Man Electrical Band) and begs to be answered.
I have no answer.
But the bootleg in question ("04/28/96 Kaucherkaner, Amsterdam, Holland") captures the band roaring through a half-dozen songs about a year or so before their untimely breakup. TITR were one of the first acts that bridged the gap between hardcore kids and us wussy emo folk, which probably had just as much to do with the Revelation logo on the back of their records, as it did with guitarist Norm Arenas' days in Krishnacore (if ever there was a genre ripe for a comeback, that is the one) icons, Shelter. Speaking of Krishna, my new mantra is: I am not ashamed of my Texas is the Reason bootleg.

There is nothing, and I repeat NOTHING, wrong with owning a Texas is the Reason bootleg. Of all the emo drivel you could (and probably do) have bootlegs of, this is one of the better finds, for sure. That three song EP/7" they did still kicks my ass to this day.
