The Verve - "Love Is Pain"

Posted by Rob Simonsen on Wed, Jul 9, 2008 at 3:22 PM

I'm probably going to regret saying this, but is anybody else kind of stoked on the new The Verve single? I mean, the lyrics are worse than anything I wrote in my journal as a teenager, but that looped vocal-tic thing is kind of awesome, and for a modern rock radio single, I think it might hold up. Plus, the video - with the synchronized aerobics, dancing candle flames, ballet dancer, and the overly-British Richard Ashcroft - is kind of great, in that "we had way too much money to spend and a dream journal chock full of ideas" way.

Ask me again after a month of being bombarded with it at every turn and I may be singing a whole different tune, but for now I gotta say I kind of am excited for their new record.
