This Week's Mercury Music Section

Another week, another Mercury Music section to read while you fulfill your carnal desires at the local Fill-N-Wash Car Wash. I wonder how many quarters it took him to... well, you know?

Let's all take a stroll into the Lone Fir Cemetery, where talented local indie musicians will regale us with tales of the haunted residents who are buried there. What's that, ghosty? You hate indie rock? Tough luck, yer dead.
LISTEN:

Al James The Unfazed - "New Age Blues for Rodney Morris"

The stark and wondrous simplicity of Church, who, unlike that other band with a similar name, will not ask you to go "Under the Milky Way" tonight.
LISTEN:

Church - "King Crow"

Cut the shit, start the Passion Pit! Other than their horrible band name--which ranks slightly above "Love Pita" on the vagina euphemism chart--this band has dropped one of the best singles of the year. Think I'm a liar? Probably, but you should still have a listen...
LISTEN:

Passion Pit - "Sleepyhead"

Randy Newman: Sings for the "short people," hates McCain, is still a total badass, and (thanks to Pixar) has more money than God.
LISTEN:

Randy Newman - Mr. President (Have Pity On The Working Man)

Slow your roll, we're not done yet. In this week's music column section, Cary gets all OMFG for PDX@CMJ , while I cover the final days of the Towne Lounge. Okay, now we're done.
