Well, duh, we all assumed this would happen.
P4K has announced (By the way, I know they rule the blog school and all, but why does a Chicago blog have to break this news when this town has lots of great blogs, not just us, eager to talk about this?) that The Thermals have signed to local label Kill Rock Stars, thus ending their stint on Sub Pop.
Pitchfork: So, Kill Rock Stars, eh? How did that come about?Hutch Harris: Oh hell yeah! They're located in Portland now, most of their bands are from Portland. Really, it's all about Portland. Kill Rock Stars pursued us very aggressively and made us a great offer.
Pitchfork: You're signing the papers this week, as I understand it.
HH: Yes, we should be signing this week. The plan is to sign papers, cash check, leak record. Please don't tell them.
The band also announced the name of their new drummer--I believe it's the 426th drummer in the band's history--Westin Glass (formerly of Say Hi) and that their KRS debut, Now We Can See, will be released April 7, 2009.
