Kathleen Edwards & John Doe - Tonight!

Kathleen Edwards teams up with John Doe for a show tonight at the Aladdin Theatre. This is bound to be good; the two have joined forces before for a song on Doe's last record, which turned out to be absolutely incredible. Don't believe me? Here's the proof.

LISTEN:

John Doe & Kathleen Edwards: "The Golden State"

The song is so good that it inspired none other than Eddie Vedder and Corin Tucker to take a stab at it, which didn't really work (listen here, at your peril). It only goes to prove that Kathleen Edwards and John Doe--both exceptional singers in their own right--knew perfectly how to interact with each other, knowing instinctually when to leave room for the other and when to take the lead. (Vedder stomps all over Tucker in the cover version.)

Anyway, Kathleen Edwards has turned into one of the most honest and rewarding songwriters around, and her live shows display grit and emotion. (John Doe, of the legendary X, needs no introduction.) The two, in addition to playing sets of their own material, are sure to play "Golden State" tonight; if they don't, I'd say a riot is in order.
