Pit Er Pat - Tonight! (Pit Pat - Forever!)

In our rush to cram as many classless dick jokes as possible into a single issue of our weekly fish wrap, we totally frogot to mention tonight's Pit Er Pat show at Backspace.

For shame.

The Thrill Jockey band from Chicago (I know, totally shocking combination, right?) is currently on the road sharing the wildly inventive loose jams from their latest, High Time. Similar in some regards to their cooler, more restrained labelmates, The Sea and Cake, Pit Er Pat seem to initially anchor all their material in jazz, and then recklessly pile upon the influences. Singer/keyboardist Fay Davis-Jeffers has that distant Nico coo to her soft voice, never letting a petty thing like emotion get in the way of her stylish delivery.

Also, please do not confuse the band with the adorable mascot Pit Pat, pictured above. If you attend this show looking for a "magical, pan-sexual, non-threatening spokesthing," you will be disappointed.

Pit er Pat, Lucky Dragons, and Hecuba perform at Backspace tonight. 8:30 pm, $7, and totally all-ages.

So I take it this show is not sponsored by Globochem.
