Listen people, I'm not even going to begin to try and explain what the holy hell happened last night when Of Montreal took the stage at the Roseland. Looking through these truly bizarre photos from the mighty Minh Tran, I am equal parts intrigued and terrified, yet I can't not look.

Man, that looks incredibly stupid. What are they, the gay GWAR now?

Remember when Of Montreal was a great band?

All I'll say is: Best Live Performance I've seen all year. And one of Portland's best audiences I've been wedged into, ever. Only complete haters could walk away from this show and think they didn't get their money (all of $15-$17) worth.

Amazing show, but the crowd and its high percentage of inconsiderate teenage hipster douches kind of killed the buzz for me. I'm kicking myself now for not going up to the balcony and getting a full view of the stage antics.

Am I the only one who thought the "high percentage of inconsiderate teenage hipster douches" (or whatever you like to call people who you don't agree with but secretly steal fashion tips from anyway) was actually an added bonus to this show? As in, what with all the over-the-top pretentiousness happening up on the stage ... it being mirrored by a few in the audience actually made the scene hilarious for once.

Also, I would've kicked myself if I stood in the balcony. You weren't going to get showered with raw ham, glitter, red body paint, feathers, pear juice and shaving cream in the balcony. It looked boring up there.

i wish they would play the songs in jeans and a t-shirt, otherwise i have no idea if they are regular chill dudes. if they aren't regular chill dudes then how am i supposed to relate? instead they are trying to be all "creative" and "entertaining" or whatever and meanwhile i'm just wondering if they are regular chill dudes or not because from where i'm standing it looks like they have to make a big effort which may mean they are not natural musicians and probably not regular chill dudes either.

Yeah, seems like maybe if you are so keen on seeing regular chill dudes you want to be going to an eskimo show, which generally happens a lot farther from the equator. You might as well just go and get drugged up to the eyeballs on tranquilizers and relax in your fridge at home, mate.
Anyway, i personally would first opt to see musicians which had set themselves to either extreme of chill before i chose 'regular'. Not very chill musicians would probably be oscillating visibly. Whereas, extremely chill ones might not be seen to move at all. Those both sound fantastic! Myself, i'll never go back to regular chill.
