Ah, Alela Diane.

Remember when you were just a local songwriter getting full-page articles dedicated to you in this paper? Then you had to go break our tender hearts by fleeing Portland for the bright lights of bustling downtown Nevada City. Nevada is a state, not a city, and don't you forget it. But all is forgiven, since "White As Diamonds," the first single from your Rough Trade debut, To Be Still, might just be your most gorgeous work to date. And while we're still months away from hearing To Be Still in all its glory (February 17th release date here in the States), I have a feeling we'll be swooning about that record for a long time to come.

Oh, and there is a giant cat on your back. Just thought you should know...

10:22 am update:
This just in courtesy of Scott from Holocene Music, her old label: "Alela is moving back to Portland in December!" We win, Nevada City loses!
