Dead Trees

Posted by Andrew R Tonry on Thu, Dec 11, 2008 at 4:04 PM

So apparently The Dead Trees are a Portland band, and apparently they are getting sorta big. Their new video, "Loretta" is featured on a certain, taste-making, nerdy website out of Chicago, whose name I refuse to write.

I don't know much about The Dead Trees, and frankly, after hearing the thing I don't much care to learn more. Maybe you will, though. Press play and find out:

Worst. Post. Ever.

this is everything I HATE about Portland. seriously.

"Hi, I'm in a band and I live in Portland and I look like a bum on the streets, I don't shower much (or at least look like it) my fixie bike is better than your car and I'm a vegetarian.. oh!@ and my friends are really cool.. did I mention that? I'm really cool. TRUST ME!"

You know what I HATE about Portland, seriously? Assholes who can't stop fucking whining about it. No, really...

"Hi I'm a retarded cunt who moved to Portland from southern California and I just haaaaaate the rain! Oh no, look! It's another early-90's-wannabe-grunge-party-band! I haaaaaaaate those people so much! Surely Portland is the *only place in the world with shitty music* and that's why I stay here, ceaselessly whining about it."

Yeah, they suck, but so do 90% of the bands out there. Just look the other way and quit blaming Portland for narcissistic scenesters, dumbass.

I don't think the music's all that horrible. But the visual on the other hand - way to shatter stereotypes gang.

The only Loretta I ever knew lived in my neighborhood growing up. Tough as fucking hell, and possibly in prison now.

She would really hate this band. Can't say I'd blame her.

Dale,

Could you please explain to me why, whenever any band, unless it's some big time crap like Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, etc. (music that is really no different than %99 of the "indie folk" in this town) here is criticized, it must be from jealous bands/failed musicians?

Just wondering.

Jake: I am making that assumption and maybe that is wrong. But the critics in this blog sounds like a bunch of whiners bunching all Portland bands together or commenting on the name because of an old girl friend. It's not really relevent commentary, so I made the assumption it was jealously.
By the way, it's not ALWAYS jealous bands.
