Niblets of News

Posted by Ned Lannamann on Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Today is "Buy-In Day" at Music Millennium (3158 E Burnside), a grassroots-organized event that encourages local patrons to visit the store and spend at least $5. This apparently is not a PR stunt concocted by Music Millennium, but rather by local bassist Lisa Mann and Heather at Ash Street Saloon. They hope that putting this day on Groundhog Day will have the day repeated again and again like the Bill Murray movie, and will support the local music store which suffered a closure of its Northwest branch in 2007. If you've had your eye on something, maybe you'll want to head over to Music Millennium and throw down for it. The store is open 'til 10 pm today.

Old Town "hybrid gallery and lounge" Pi-Rem (440 NW Glisan), where many cutting edge DJs spun on the weekends, has been sold. There is not much information on what the new owners intend to do with the place, but word is it will continue as a bar/club/gallery.
