Pure Pop For Noise People

What if the record industry had actually tried to exploit No Wave? What if Clive Davis mosied into a loft party on the Lower East Side circa 1978, took a few wiffs, and passed the news onto Suzie Quatro. Would this have been a bad thing?

The latest album from These Are Powers suggests it would've actually been brilliant. Which is why it's even better that the noise-pop supergroup (including members of Liars/Knife Skills/Brenmar) have taken it upon themselves on All Aboard Future to add "hooky" to the qualifiers that usually precede their name.

The dark, noisy, ethereal, and hooky Chicago/Brooklyn trio play Backspace tonight with Guidance Counselor and Fuck You Safari.

Backspace, 9pm, $5, all ages.
