In the Air: Blossoms, BBQ and New Releases

Posted by Maranda Bish on Tue, Apr 7, 2009 at 4:32 PM

I'd say April is off to a pretty glorious start, thanks in no small part to a) the weather and b) album releases aplenty.

On the subject of a):I'm developing a theory about coastal weather creating trends towards manic-depression (we got the depression part down, and yesterday's weather = mania). If you've experienced these symptoms, I need to hear from you.

As for b): in the era of downloads and leaks, release dates still give me a thrill.

A shit-ton of albums are officially available today. Local debuts include LPs from the Thermals and Eat Skull (as Ezra discussed a couple of weeks back), and national releases from Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Crystal Antlers and Pele, to name a few. You can check out a list of some major releases over here at Largehearted Boy.

Throughout the month the new jams will keep comin'. I'm really excited to hear the latest from Woods next week— my life needs more tracks like this one from last year's Family Creeps.

LISTEN:
Woods — Twisted Tongue

Anything in particular y'all are looking forward to ? And seriously, do let me know if you're experiencing said mania. With enough data to back me up, I'm on the fast track to Science magazine.

Micachu & The Shapes new album "Jewellery" is out today and I'm hella excited about the disc (I got an advance listen, being partially plugged into the music press scene). It could either fly under the radar or it will garnish a 8.0 review on P4k and be the new Pains of Being Pure at Heart. You decide! (er, I mean, P4k decides...)
