Win Tickets to See Los Campesinos!

The six days, six concerts, six giveaways contest marches on:

Giveaway #3: Win tickets to see Los Campesinos!!!

Notice the triple exclamation marks? I usually don't just tack on one unless it's a big deal, but I had to triple-up for the Welsh pop sensations of Los Campesinos! because, well, they already had one exclamation mark in their name. Besides, three seemed like a fitting way to describe their hyper/fun/ridiculous sound.
Calling me a liar? Here's animated proof:

Told 'ya. To win your way into this show—this Sunday night at the Wonder Ballroom—just comment below on why you think you deserve the tickets. The top three comments—by today at 4pm—will be speaking that weird Welsh language with Los Campesinos! on Sunday. Good luck.

Photo: Jon Bergman | We're taking the weekend off (this ticket purging is hard work), but come Monday morning, we're giving away some Glasvegas tickets.

I think I'm deserving as what WAS my ticket, purchased by the boy I am in love with, will now be admitting his new skeezy hipster girlfriend who is fucking half of Portland. Come on, that hardly seems fair. (And takebacks, really? What are we, twelve?)

Because I had this friend named Welsh Rob and I haven't seen him in 6 years since I moved back from Canada. I figure if I ask the band if they know him, and they can tell him I say hi. Wales is pretty small, you know?

...and I'll apparently use terrible sentence structure in my comment. Let's change that second one to read: "I figure I can ask the band if they know him, and they can tell him I say hi". Great, much better now. Thanks.

I deserve these tickets because... awe fuck it...

I want you off the fucking set you prick. No, don't just be sorry, think for one fucking second. What the fuck are you doing? Are you professional or not? Do I fucking walk around and rip- no, shut the fuck up Bruce, do I-no! No! Don't shut me up. Am I going to walk around and rip your fucking lighs down? In the middle of a scene? Then why the fuck are you walking right through? a-tada-tada like this in the background, what the fuck is it with you? What don't you fucking understand? You got any fucking idea about- Hey! It's fucking distracting having somebody walking up behind bryce in the middle of the fucking scene. Gimme a fucking answer. What don't you get about it? ... fuck sake man you're amateur... you've got something to say to this prick? Well somebody's should be watching him and keeping an eye on him. It's the second time that he doesn't give a fuck about what is going on in front of the camera. Alright? I'm trying to fucking do a scene here and I'm going why the fuck is Shane walking in there? What is he doing there? Do you understand? My mind is not in the scene if you're doing that. Stay off the fucking set man, for fuck's set. Right let's go again. Let's not take a fucking minute, let's go again. And let's not have you fucking walking in... You're unbelievable man, you're un-fucking-believable. The number of times you stroll in the fucking background. I've never had a DP behave like this. You don't fucking understand what its like working with actors. That's what that is. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. You wouldn't have done that otherwise. I'm gonna fucking kick your fucking ass if you don't shut up for a second, alright? I'm gonna go, do you want me to go and trash your lights? Do you want me to fucking trash them? Then why are you trashing my scene? You do it one more time, and I wain't walking back to set if you're still hired... seriously man - you and me, we're fucking done professionaly.... fucking ass.

gimmedemticketsman!

In West Philadelphia, born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days.
Chillin’ out, maxin’, relaxin all cool,
And all shootin’ some b-ball outside of the school.

When a couple of guys who were up to no good,
Started makin’ trouble in my neighborhood.
I got in one little fight and my mom got the broom,
And said "You’re going to Los Campesinos! at the Wonder Ballroom."

Because they'd be a perfect birthday gift, and it's totally a gift I'd benefit from. I love that shit.

I deserve to win these tickets because I've been terminally unemployed this year as a result of the economy and I finally scored an interview for a decent position at a decent company but the whole time I was talking to the interviewer he had a bugger hanging out of his nose and I didn't once laugh or even stare at it for too long. My good manners earned me a second interview and I think the tickets to Los Campesinos are a pretty adequate reward for my politeness, no? Plus it's easter Sunday and my buddy and I are having kind of a bro-date because we don't have any family in Portland to eat ham with and I think this would be an awesome surprise for him as he is a huge Los Campesinos fan.

I have the fucking worst hangover of my life from The Thermals show last night and I would love to to repeat this feat again on Monday to see Los Campesinos. I'll bring you the blood of the poor if you give me these tix.

As a gay, recovering Catholic, I deserve the tickets for all the lent masses and fast fridays and itchy catholic school girl uniforms I had to endure growing up.

Yesterday, I won free tickets to watch the Cherry City Music Festival down in Salem this weekend. Unfortunately, I was up on Mt. Hood snowboarding in the sunny slush, miles from a cell phone tower that could deliver me the good news. By the time I checked my email and confirmed I would attend (in particular, the Thermals show tonight and Portland Cello Project tomorrow), the tickets had already been given to somebody else. Rather than get down on myself, I've decided to get back up, dust myself off, and try again. Who knows, maybe lightning will strike twice and even better, not unstrike this time.

They are probably the most self-aware band in the "scene."

These are the reasons I deserve to go:

Because their lyrics are like a final, fatal Livejournal entry.
Because they're trying to find the perfect match between pretentious and pop.
Because they'll send me stationary to make me horny.
Because they're communist Russia, but only on my headphones.
Because Calvin Johnson never meant anything to me.
Because it's you, it's me, and there's dancing.

Damn extended metaphors, I get carried away.

Because I live on 10 dollars a week and I could really, really use a reason to dance my student loans away. And I'll write you a thank you note.
