Win Tickets to See Glasvegas!

Our six days, six concerts, six giveaways contest starts a new week:

Giveaway #4: Win tickets to see Glasvegas!

The last time Glasvegas came to town, the Doug Fir was sold out, there was a cool fog machine (I'm very easily impressed), and a singer that looked like a baby Joe Strummer. Oh, and plenty of songs as well. The Scottish band has garnered comparisons to the Jesus and Mary Chain, with a wee bit Phil Spector Wall of Sound style thrown in as well. I guess you could say it's an Antonine Wall (of Sound).

What? Too nerdy? That joke killed in Edinburgh!

Fine, whatever. Here's your MP3:
LISTEN:

Glasvegas - "Geraldine"

To win your way into this show—this Tuesday night at the Wonder Ballroom—just comment below on why you think you deserve the tickets. The top three comments—by today at 4pm—will be at the show, and far away from my jokes about Roman architecture. Good luck.

Coming tomorrow: Tickets to Dr. Dog and the Cave Singers

I should be at the show because I'm going on an internet date that night with someone 8 years younger than myself and I want to pretend that I am cool.

I would like tickets for the following reasons:
a. - I am not *yet* a fan, but would like a shot at becoming one.
b. - I like Scottish accents.
c. - I probably shouldn't spend money on tickets for a band that I don't already know and love.
d. - I never win tickets, so it could restore my faith.

I should win because I dance like a crazy lunatic hopped up on DayQuil when I'm at shows. And every show needs one of those guys.

Argyle is more than a street in Glasgow, it's the pattern in which we should live our lives.

I have been slowly introducing my significant other to a broadening list of bands as part of a larger intervention to stave off the effects of top 40 and country music, her music of choice. The good news is that the treatment is working.

She does have some qualities to work with, raised in Missouri, she is a fan of Wilco. So have used this foundation to introduce her to Radiohead. Which has led of course to a strong base for the enjoyment of Manchester bands such as the aforementioned Jesus and the Mary Chain. The only problem is that we need some kind of transition to ease the shift.

I believe the Glasvegas show will have the blend of more challenging musical arrangements with the assurance of melodious vocals that can open many possibilities. A kind of musical "handshake" on which she can grow to "familiarize" herself with more challenging music like the Silver Jews or Sonic Youth.

Giving 2 Tickets cost so little but can help so much. Won't you open up your hearts and give the gift of good musical taste to the less fortunate? The world you improve may be your own.

Cheers,
JG Hitzert

I should go because I am getting my checks garnished from an already poorly paying job for a huge bank, where I do NOT fit in at all. Because I have no money, I don't even want to ask anyone out on a date, thus I have been single and alone for 2 years. Please give me one night of pleasure.

How the hell can you dance to Fleet Foxes? I think I'm siding with the boring hipsters on this one.

Glasvegas, I heard some of their stuff and it sounded really keen, plus it will give me an excuse to put my taxes off for one more day.

I think it was really MY PAIN, intern Molly...(and itsmehannah) for having to watch the turantula fingers that you both somehow made while stomping your boots and squinching your faces as you swayed to the music... Damn good point...how the hell DO you dance to Fleet Foxes?
