Win Tickets to see Magic Wands!

Over the past year the Magic Wands duo has circled the globe, touring alongside the likes of The Raconteurs, The Black Kids, The Breeders, and plenty more bands with "The" in their name. Now traveling in support of their forthcoming EP, Magic Love & Dreams (out next month), the band is performing with The Kills and The Horrors on May 17th at the Wonder Ballroom, and we want to give you a pair of tickets.

Let's have a listen, shall we?

LISTEN:

Magic Wands - "Black Magic"

Speaking of magic wands, it's time I order the new "The Headmistress" model. Anyone got $66 I can borrow?

Anyway, to win the tickets just comment below on why you think you deserve them. The best comment by tomorrow (that would be Friday) at noon wins their way into the show (with a guest). Good luck, 'lil wizards.

I think I deserve the tickets because I've never won anything and it's time to get my shit together and start winning some stuff.

I think i deserve to win because I've been stuck in the middle of nowhere (think dairy farms and forests) in northern california for the past four months. Besides a Fleet Foxes/Blitzen Trapper show its been nothing but reggae reggae reggae. Before I came to Humboldt County I didn't even know people still listened to reggae. I need something to integrate me back into Portlands music scene.

I really think you should let me have them, because, well, I'm Arab, and if you don't give me the tickets you'll be promoting racism and intolerance. So there.

I think I should deserve to win because the last time I won tickets from the Portland Mercury I didn't go. I feel bad about that and want to make things right.

Because I know magic exists. All year I participate in local sword fighting and spirit quests. I am a fifth level sorcerer holding the power to speak to animals as well as immunity to the breath of fire dragons. I work tirelessly to harness my craft. I am preparing for my spiritual journey, defending the great Lord Vaganosh Cleterisck. I know my battle will come, as my destiny is to transcend from middle earth. For this day I must prepare a worthy soundtrack.

The Kills, The Horrors, AND Magic Wands at the Wonder Ballroom on god day Sunday? This is like the musical wordplay equivalent of LARPING for Jesus! Therefore, there is no other who should attend this event than the Great Wall O Rubish. We will dress in our finest tights and get our makeup just right for the amazing lights of that particularly wonderful stage. Who will end the night as ruler of musical prominence? Our gale force cheers for guitar kings and vocal queens shall be the decider. Those who prevail in their quest will walk away, with heads held high, into god's very own musical land of LARPdome.

I'd love to surprise my best-ie who is returning from a 5 month jaunt in south america the day before the concert. she introduced me to the raconteurs back in the day, and we love getting down to this kind of music. it would be an incredible return.

plus, we live on magic love & dreams.

I really don't deserve these tickets...I don't have a striped t-shirt or a sparkly star wand. I do, however, have some cool sunglasses and I think it's going to be sunny on May 17th. What a great way to show off my shades!
