Want to gaze into the eyes of Alaska/California indie rock outfit Port O'Brien? Well, here's your chance to win two spots to their show at the Doug Fir this Friday, June 19. We assure you, they have the kind of sea-swept, dreamy eyes that you can get lost for days inside. Oh, and the tunes are good too.

LISTEN:

Port O'Brien - "I Woke Up Today"

We should also mention that Papercuts headline the show, who are none too shabby themselves, and the bill is opened by excellent Portland troubadour Leonard Mynx. It's a solid triple play, and to win, all you have to do is leave a comment, telling us why you best deserve the pair of tickets. (You must be logged into the site with a valid email address in order to win.) The contest closes Thursday, June 18 at 3 pm, and we'll pick the winner at that time. Get commenting!

Because I only know one Port O'Brien song ("Won't Look Back"), but I do listen to it all the time. So I will probably dig the band and be inspired to buy a bunch of their merch and talk them up to my friends, which is a win for everyone!

When I was a blind simpleton, during the dustbowl days, my father told me that someday there would be a musician so great that I would gain site and intelligence, then he locked me in the basement with enough food and water to last me for the next 80 years. After a very long wait, that music arrived in the form of Port O'Brien.

I may be nearly 100 years old now, but I only look like I'm in my early 30's and would love to bask in the glow of live music from the band that cured my blindness.

My yard is out of control with feral cats and I don't know what to do. Please give me a reason to smile!

So much Port O'Brien talk, Papercuts get no love. I nominate myself because I am a Papercuts superfan, with 42 of their songs on my iPod. (Seriously, I can send a screen shot). They're awesome, and I've seen them play places in Portland that don't exist anymore, like Bossanova and Meow Meow. Sadly, haven't seem them since 2004.
