Contest Win Tickets to Dead Prez!

The last time Dead Prez brought their fuck-a-cop-hiphop to the Pacific Northwest, this happened. While I can't promise their Portland show—this Friday at the Roseland Theater—will feature an overturned police cruiser, or Evergreen students that try to "grab guns from deputy holsters" (!), you know that this will be a memorable evening.

The Brooklyn duo of M1 and stic.man have battled "the man," plus countless inept record labels, in order to release an impressive catalog of militant hiphop that is committed to self-discipline, community building, staying positive, and kicking ass like a goddamn warrior (when called for). When they are on—which they definitely are on their new DJ Green Lantern mixtape, Pulse Of The People—few modern musical acts, hiphop or otherwise, are as important as Dead Prez. Don't miss this.

I haven't been to a show in a LONG time!

My birthday is this month!

I just met a guy and I think this would be an AWESOME first date!

While I'm not sure I can top the hipster girl's birthday plea, I can offer this reason that I should win these tickets:

The presence of my extra white-bread looking ass will either a) serve as great entertainment to those blessed with that thing called rhythm, or b) be just the catalyst needed to incite a riot that will earn Portland it's very own post-concert riot!

I deserve to attend this show because I am a revolutionary!! I also deserve to win the tickets because I live in Vancouver, Washington.. hear me out, okay?!

I have exercised my freedom of speech many time over the years telling Vancouver's finest what's what when they write incredibly stupid tickets. Washington is becoming a police state and I'm not just another suburbanite torching their bong and bitching and vandalizing.. (as much fun as those things may be..) I constantly research the government and I really feel like Dead Prez reflects my sentiments so well and have given me so much inspiration to write and learn more over the years. I won't start a riot and I'm not a fan girl who knows all the lyrics to every song.. I'm not even gangster at all, I'm actually quite plain.. but I do believe in the message of the music.. also, my boyfriend would be really stoked to be taken out and have an excuse to cross the river and GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE 'COUVE.

First off. I know for a fact that no one deserves to go to this show more than myself.
First off...I have been listening to Dead Prez from a decade ago, I was in San Fransisco at the time and was wandering around downtown and there was a hip hop convention going on, why just minding my own(actually trying to slip inside) I am approached a small framed, yet inherently charming young man (by the name of stic.man) and I was handed a single from their yet to be released album. And for all you wee babes that probably don't know what this is, I was handed a cassette tape single. You can Google it for reference if you are unsure as to what that is.

second-as for being the only black person in Portland, I am afraid that you would be mistaken. Not only am I also African American, I graduate from a HBCU (Historically Black College/University)

and to end this entire debate, July 10th is my birthday, I'm single and my closest friends are out of town and it's my birthday and unless I get these tickets spend the evening with a bottle of Jameson listening to 'Let's get free" for the thousandth time...

I am more than willing to send in a copy of my DL to prove that Friday is actually my birthday!

I would like to apologize for the grammatical errors in my previous post. This is why one should always read through for potential revisions BEFORE posting. Heck there is even the edit post pop up.

Do not allow my impatience and agitation to effect the possibility of my getting the tickets. I just really need to go to this show and if I wasn't so damn poor, I would have purchased tickets already....

This is why I need tickets:

-I lost my job
-I am broke
-I had to spend the last of my money in my bank account on a plane ticket to the midwest to visit my dying Grandfather
-I'm having a quarter-life crisis
-My boyfriend is also jobless and broke and unless we do something together such as solidifying our love during a slightly hardcore hip-hop show expressing both our white guilt AND political leanings I'm afraid our relationship my be doomed
-I want to hear Mind Sex so bad I could cry
-I AM crying right now actually.
-The last "hip-hop" show I saw was Kanye. I need to see this.

I hate the fact that every motherfucker only seems to know about Dead Prez because of that intro into that stupid Chappelle show.

I deserve to go because I've been dying for a decade to hear "Mind Sex" performed live. All that revolutionary mumbo-jumo about guns and killing the man is boring.

The stuff about responsability and learning and improving oneself is where Dead Prez has the biggest and best chance of helping people.

I also deserve these free tickets because:

1. I have a good job.
2. I have discresionary income.
3. I've seen Dead Prez twice before and I have no compuctions about doing the call'n'response to "I'm A African"
4. The Merc owes me for all the free content and LULZ I provide every day.
5. Because my white guilt compells me to abase myself in front of People of Color and hope and dream and lust after their approval.

Okay, I deserve these tickets because firstly my favorite beat of all time is a Dead Prez beat and I have every remix of it possible cuz they are the shit and their beats are out of control. I need this concert to survive, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider me cuz it will NOT be regretted by ANYONE. :) woot woot!

I am writing yet again to assert myself and my desire to be the recipient of the Dead Prez tickets. If I come across as brass or potentially violent, please understand that is not my intention.

I use my words to inspire and invigorate people and only when necessay do I use them to crush someone's soul...
