The Pink Snowflakes Are Loud As Bombs

Posted by Mark Lore on Mon, Jul 13, 2009 at 10:56 AM

The Pink Snowflakes might be the loudest band in Portland. I saw a performance at East End and... I think loading their equipment might have taken more time than the actual performance.

The band also makes some of the coolest videos not directed by Alicia J. Rose. On the Snowflakes' latest video, "Summer Feels When it's Bright," they abstain from the usual psychedelic tomfoolery, instead mixing clips from '50s sock hops with rare war footage. Mmm... the Red Scare and cotton candy taste so good together. And it can be watched and listened to on the comfort of your computer's tinny speakers.

For those who like to get blown out, The Pink Snowflakes will again do so at one of their favorite haunts East End on August 2nd with The Groggs.
