In series entitled "50 Authentic American Experiences 2009" Time has listed MusicFest NW as the Oregon experience. Does this mean the festival is better than Crater Lake, Multnomah Falls, and that one rock from Goonies? Uh, sure.

Each year, dozens of (often local) indie rock, blues, hip-hop and rock bands take the stages around Portland for the Musicfest NW, which is probably the most popular music festival you've never heard of. One blogger called it the "most unbelievably underrated music festival of 2009." And maybe the folks in Portland would prefer to keep it that way. This year's line up includes Mudhoney, Explosions in the Sky, Bad Brains, Girl Talk and Sunny Day Real Estate. The northwest has always been on the cutting edge when it comes to music, and here's your chance to find out why. Tickets: $60

Ha, take that Rhode Island. All you have is a stupid dumb lighthouse for jerks. Good luck with that, losers.
