Alexis Gideon has just debuted the first track from Video Musics, his hip-hopera—their term, not mine (I prefer "rapopera")—set for a September release. "Brimstone Blaine" is a murky collection of Gideon's mumbled flow and cut/paste production style. The music from this Chicago transplant, and beau to Shelley Short, can be an acquired taste, but the concept behind Video Musics (a CD/DVD pairing complete with music and animation) definitely seems worth checking out.
