Win Tickets to Slick Rick!

If you've had "Children's Story" stuck in your head since 1988 then you're going to want to see The Ruler himself, Slick Rick, tomorrow night at the Roseland. Lucky for you, we have a pair of tickets with your name on them.

Here comes my Ron Popeil moment: But wait, there's more. If you enter this contest right now, we'll throw in opening acts Rahzel and the Beatnuts. The "Survival of the Illest Tour" is as legendary of a hiphop bill you'll find this side of Rock the Bells, although, to be fair, Rahzel is great and all, but the dude can't make a pug beatbox. Just saying.

Anyway, to win your way into this show, strap on your eye patch and comment below on why you think you deserve the tickets. The response that best knocks 'em out the box by 5pm today will win a pair of tickets to tomorrow's show. Good luck.

LISTEN:

Slick Rick - "Children's Story"

Because I'm slick like rick but not sick to kick this habit of bad raps. Ya feel me? I got gold chains to match my head games. Mostly though, my childhood was rife with strife cuz Rick kept my mind from being blind.

I would love to win these tickets because Victoria's Secret just sent me a coupon for a free panty, and if I won tickets to Slick Rick I would be on a freebie roll. Then I could wear my free panties to the free show.

After a year of recovering from a torn artery in my neck, I can walk and live life normally, for the most part, and took the summer off to enjoy events such as this: blast from the past party shows like Slick Rick to help me remember how much fun life can be! It's important to always have something to look forward to, no matter how many low blows life can deal to you. ps. also, my new flame LOVES him so the afterparty could get super-hott.

because slick rick is the fucking jam! because i can never get 'mona lisa' out of my head no matter how much i try. because slick rick makes my internal narrative sound like old-school british rap and that is weird/awesome. because i am a social worker who definitely can't afford the tickets. because i work with kids from tuff town and they would think i'm super cool if i went to this show. because i will get real excited and dance my pants off.

Last time I saw Mc Ricky D the motherfucker showed up like 2.5 hours late, went on for like 25 minutes, and left.

We sat at the Roseland listening to some local DJ spin for over 3 hours. It was fucking terrible. Anything he does at this point will be an improvement.

I'm representin' the streets of the 503. To properly do that, one must rock out to the smooth, simple & soft beats & melodies of the track Street Talkin' by Outkast, featuring the one & only deported brotha with an eye patch!
Outkast & Slick Rick, does it get much better? I think not. Here's to the streets!
