Hiphop for Health

Posted by Theodora Karatzas on Fri, Aug 7, 2009 at 1:46 PM

As we keep waiting on that universal health care that was supposed to come with the new administration, many who are creatively employed are suffering due to their lack of medical benefits. Such is the case with hiphopper DJ Rascue of Cali Agents.

Rascue is currently experiencing kidney failure and is in dire need of a transplant. Focused Noise has organized a benefit to help him and raise awareness about organ donation. This show is following a San Francisco benefit that drew over 800 people. Performers will include Cool Nutz, Mic Crenshaw & Gen.Erik from Animal Farm, GWizski, and many others. The issue of health care for musicians has been one floating around for sometime now and it’s nice to see the community banding together to help other artists in need.

The benefit will be tonight at 9 p.m. the Blue Monk at 3341 SE Belmont St. There is an eight dollar suggested donation and the show is 21+
