Instead of acting as a stopgap until the new Menomena album comes out—tentative release date: 2078—the debut solo offering, Intuit, from the band's Brent Knopf (under the name Ramona Falls) is quite superb. To celebrate the record's release we are giving away a pair of tickets to Ramona Falls' first Portland show ever—this Saturday night at the Doug Fir.

If winning is your thing, just comment below on why you think you deserve to attend the show. The finest comment by tonight at 5pm will win the tickets. Good luck.

Because I just got up at 9:30AM, which is still early enough to be the first to post.

Because PLEASE! Pretty please! I'm not that funny, but I'm really polite!

Because Brian Perez's love child has already been claimed by Portland's entire female population, so I'm going to be the first to put my claim on Brent Knopf and his band's first ever portland show seems to be the perfect opportunity to offer him my womb:)

I just found out that Pseudosix isn't together anymore, and I need a pick-me-up since I never got to see them play.

I still have not allowed Friend & Foe to leave my regular album rotation. My partner loves Menomena but hasn't had the opportunity to see them live.

It was my birthday on Monday (to the Mercuriers: party this evening at 5:30 for happy hour at Plan B...get your sexy weekly asses over to celebrate!) and it's her birthday next Wednesday. What better way to celebrate both than to watch Brent Knopf tear up some musical boundaries?!

Two reasons:
1) I am the only one clever enough to know that if you fold the photo, just like the old Mad Magazine back page, it actually reveals the release date of the next Menomena album

2) The old ball and chain and I took it upon ourselves to put some Menomena tracks on a mix CD of Portland music which we single handedly disseminated throughout Europe on our travels. Thus bringing their musical genius to those throughout the world. Between the cover of the CD (A Trailblazer Emblem) and those tracks the world was left thinking that Portland is a-ok.

Ramona Falls will only up our a-ok-ness. Send me to Ramona Falls!

Whatever, Magalicious.

My partner took Menomena tracks to Costa Rica, and it's STILL the week of both of our birthdays.

BOOSH.

Translation: "We expected it to be pretty crappy since it's a solo album but it turns out it's actually GOOD!" It's fucking fantastic. I'll probably see the Seattle show also and I'm embarrassed to admit this. I've seen every Menomena show this year in not only Portland but also Seattle and Eugene. This fact alone kind of disturbs me.

Okay, so now I really deserve the tickets because I spent my workday monitoring the updates on this thread to size up (and confront) the competition. Tenacity has to count for something.

The tickets would have the best home with me for more than 1 reasons.

1. I will ride my bike to the Doug Fir and wear a helmet.
2. I'll get to impress a cute boy with my incredible taste in music.
3. Said cute boy is also a total booze hound, so I get to spend my evening with a hottie, Doug Fir gets a lot of his money in our alcohol sales -- and bar tenders, he tips well.

Total win-win for everyone. Please and thank you, Mercury.

Oh -- and I buy a lot of MercPerks, it can be like you thanking me for my business.

because my roommate would freak out! He happened to walk past us at the grocery store recently and I have never seen anyone blush as hard as she did. It was pretty adorable. We'll be at the concert anyway butttt this way I could surprise her with free tickets

Because Brent was in my AP English class in high school and probably had to listen to a reading of one of the worst pieces of writing ever written for a free-write short story assignment. Uh, it was by me, of course.

Darn, too late. My reading skills have gone downhill since that AP English class, apparently. Didn't notice the 5 pm deadline.
