Another week, another Mercury music section to read while you download the new 44-song Smashing Pumpkins release, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. Was I out getting a sandwich when Billy Corgan went totally batshit insane? Or maybe this has been in the works for awhile? If you need me, I'll be crying in my Teargarden.

Things I wished for in my high school diary: A Sunny Day Real Estate reunion—with the original lineup—and for a girl to take my tender flower. Well, one out of two ain't bad.
LISTEN:

Sunny Day Real Estate - "Seven"

Langhorne Slim rolls into town and acts like he owns the place. His latest, Be Set Free, was recorded in Portland with the help of all sorts of local musicians.
LISTEN:

Langhorne Slim - "Say Yes"

Of all the concerts coming up this week, and there are a ton, none has me more excited than Tuesday's Gaslight Anthem show with opener Frank Turner. It's hard not to rant about Tuner's keen ability to channel the best of Strummer, Bragg, Finn (Craig, not the dude from Split Enz), and Springsteen all within the context of a short folk-rock song.
LISTEN:

Frank Turner - "Live Fast Die Old"

The good news: Our unprecedented interview with Modest Mouse. The better news: We didn't refer to them as "Modest Mouseketeers."
LISTEN:

Modest Mouse - "Little Motel"

No longer just dooming it up, Om pursue "more meaningful things" on their Drag City debut, God Is Good. You mean there is something more meaningful than doom?
LISTEN:

Om - "Meditation is the Practice of Death"

Sure, JD Twitch (from Optimo) might be a better DJ with a superior record collection than myself, but does he have a copy of Bill Cosby's Wonderfulness on LP? Yeah, that's what I thought.
LISTEN:

Franz Ferdinand - Outsiders (JD Twitch Remix)
