Throw Me the Statue - Tonight!

Seattle band Throw Me the Statue's second album Creaturesque contains as many pure pop moments as their first, the wonderful Moonbeams, which contained one of my favorite songs of the decade, "About to Walk." Nothing on Creaturesque strikes me as immediately that excellent, but there are lots of nooks and crannies to get lost in on the album's alternately detailed and charmingly lo-fi production. After a tiny slump with their Purpleface EP, it is great to hear Throw Me the Statue back with another solid full-length. This is one of Seattle's best bands; they haven't quite found a following yet in Portland, but hopefully tonight will win them new legions of fans in those attending the Minus the Bear show.
