It's no secret that, when the dust settles, Dirty Projectors' masterful Bitte Orca will be the most acclaimed record of 2009. And with good reason, too, it's a lovely recording that pays little mind to genre restrictions, or traditional song structure, yet still meshes together with a graceful ease.
Currently touring on their Bitte Orca victory lap, the band will be at the Aladdin Theater on Tuesday, November 3rd, and we'd like to get you into the show. But that's not all, the kind souls at Domino Records will send a "Dirty Projectors Prize Package" your way as well. In addition to a pair of tickets to the Aladdin concert, you'll receive a LP copy of Bitte Orca, plus a poster to hang on your dorm room wall. Plus, after the show, Dave Longstreth and the rest of the band will toss back a round of Butterscotch Schnapps shots with you at the Bear Paw Inn*.
To take home this glorious package of awesomeness, just comment below on why you think you deserve to win. The best comment by Friday at noon (that's tomorrow) will take home the tickets, LP, and poster.

I deserve to win because something idiotic has happened every time I've tried to see them play here in the past four years. Plus, Little Wings is opening and Light Green Leaves is one of my favorite records OF ALL TIME.
I deserve to win because I'm hoping you pick this one arbitrarily and somehow choose me! I love the Dirty Projectors and my wallet and I would love to score these tickets for free....
I deserve these tickets because I sat through that god-awful movie on Sunday and didn't stab anyone.
But you were funny.
Fer realz, yo, here's the story:
July 4. I knew it was gonna be a stretch, having other things going on, but I was hoping I could go (they were at the Holocene). It was sold out, but I had bought tickets. Was informed by SO that I wasn't going. Yep. Because we were going to fireworks. So I sold them. And yes, I sold them pretty easily, but that's not the point. I was bummed. Were the fireworks good? Heck if I know, we flaked on the fireworks because we were tired. So I could have gone.
Life isn't fair. But the Mercury could make life just a little bit fairer if they gave me tickets. True story. Except for the part about fighting the lion. Which I cut anyway.
i deserve to win because my cat just got killed by a speeding driver. and this is the second cat i've lost to speeding drivers in the last 14 months. oh, and did i mention...my dad also died 4 months ago...seriously. i'm not making this up. so, i deserve the tickets because i deserve a respite and break from reality. thanks.
I deserve to win because I have never been to a indie concert before. Every time I try to find even a half decent one, the concert has already past. This would be a great introduction for my parents on what i listen all the time, and would be great for me because I will finally be able to attend an amazing concert other than that terrible Kelly Clarkson one my sister dragged me to <_<
I deserve to win because I remember seeing David Longstreth at the Nocturnal back in 2002, still known as the Dirty Projectors back then but as a solo act. He was performing parts of his opera suite that were written during his time at Yale (academic fancypants that he is!). There must have been only about 8 or 10 people there, but I loved every minute of his stretchy guitar riffs and wailing voice. I also played the hell out of his record at KWCW in Walla Walla, you know, the one with the guy's dick just sticking out on the cover.
So, I remember Dirty Projectors from way back when, and I still love them today as a fleshed-out riff powerhouse. I deserve these tickets because I am a DP OG.
I deserve to win because I'm a thirtysomething father of a three-year-old and the night of the show happens to be one of those rare weeknights when our babysitter is available so it'd be easy to go out. Also, babysitters cost between $7 and $10 an hour which can add up to the point that being able to afford tickets AND pay for a sitter is nigh-on impossible. Lastly, I have a beautiful turntable acquired at Fred's Sound of Music back in the mid-90s that needs some new vinyl.
hello! i hope to win because i own a music venue in salem called THE SPACE (tell your friends and friends bands) and am always looking to experience new music and possibly bring dirty projectors to my town. the people here are hungry for avante garde music. and its my birthday on nov.2:)
Please Whale? More like Please Wail on your guitars and vocals which D.P certainly do. Apart from that-collabos'with Byrne and Bjork? Whose next Rick Rubin? I certainly hope so. I might just possibly deserve these tickets for suggesting that....
because we all deserve to be happy, and this would help me with that. because i'm still in love with my ex, and he pretty much broke up with me for playing "rise above" every morning.
i deserve to win because i want to see the opening band, little wings, but don't want to pay to see them open for dirty projectors at a venue all the way across town from my house. little wings doesn't play here enough.
When I saw Longstreth on America's birthday, I threatened him with a beatdown if he showed that perpetually-nonplussed mug here again... and I fully intend on keeping my word.
