Finally, Someone Not Moving to Portland

Posted by Ezra Ace Caraeff on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 6:43 AM

Recently word has it that John Roderick (Long Winters) and Canadian alt-country singer Kathleen Edwards were holed up in Portland writing songs together. Could that mean they—like every musician on the planet—are going to relocate to Portland?

No.

We know this because one of their songs together has the nifty title of "Not Moving to Portland." It was recorded as a benefit for Give Seattle, which donates 100% of their proceeds to Arts Corps and various Seattle food banks. I now expect all artists not located in Portland to go on record with their intentions to move—or not move—here. If they don't, just assume they already live here.

Funny thing is, if these two moved to Portland, they'd instantly be the two best songwriters in town. And I'm not hating on our local talent - that's seriously saying something.
