Tonight! The Marmits at Goodfoot!

If you can imagine early Animal Collective jamming with the Muppet Babies, then you just about described the Marmits. Their brand of pych-pop sounds like it comes from a smoldering rabbit hole shared with the Nurses or Mr. Bungle, but as a live band, they're one of the most bizarr-o this city has to offer. The Marmits' stage banter is delivered in surreal high-pitched voices that make you feel like you're reliving childhood Saturday mornings spent in front of the television. You're scarfing sugar-packed cereal. You're singing along to nonsensical songs performed by cartoonish musicians. You're absolutely carefree and you'll never be more happy. Man, just writing about them makes me feel nostalgic.
The Marmits perform with Hexlove, Moodring and Air War tonight at Goodfoot, 9 pm.
