Win Tickets to See Gil Scott-Heron!

Posted by Ezra Ace Caraeff on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 1:29 PM

Our Soul'd Out Music Festival ticket giveaways continue and this time around we are handing over a pair of passes to see the Gil Scott-Heron. More so than any event during this fine festival, this is the one show that I have circled on my calendar months in advance.

You probably know Scott-Heron as the man behind "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" or the often-sampled hook of "Home Is Where The Hatred Is," but following his nearly decade long absence (and the difficult stretch of personal problems that ensued) it seemed like the last thing we'd ever see from the soul icon is a new recording or a tourdate here in Portland (this Thursday at the Aladdin Theater). Instead we got both, and Scott-Heron's brand new I'm New Here LP is a stunning work of raw nerve soul, easily his best record since 1971's Pieces Of A Man.

To win an evening with the sweet sounds of GSH, just comment below and explain why you (and a guest) deserve these tickets. The best comment by Wednesday 3pm will win. Good luck.
