Watch the National on the Internet with Other National Fans

Posted by Ned Lannamann on Thu, May 13, 2010 at 4:44 PM

Do you really, really like the National? Of course you do! How do you feel about simulcasts?

(chirp chirp crickets chirp)

Well, we'll get back to that. Anyway, you probably already know that the National's new album High Violet (whose title is probably is annoying the hell out of this local band) was released on Tuesday, and you probably also know that it's very good. The National are playing a show in Brooklyn this Saturday, May 15, and the whole thing is going to be simulcast live via YouTube/Vevo. You'll be able to watch it here, or...

You can go to the party at downtown's Beauty Bar and join all the other National fans who are also watching the Portland simulcast! The video of the concert is directed by DA Pennebaker (!) and Chris Hegedus, and it'll reportedly be blasting on hi-def. For those dying to see the National live, this could be your sole chance—unless you are going to Sasquatch!—as the New York group hasn't (as yet) announced any Portland dates for this year. (Although they currently have Vancouver, BC, and Redmond, WA, dates scheduled for September, so you never know.) If you're interested in checking out the simulcast at Beauty Bar, you can RSVP to

Beauty Bar, 111 SW Ash, Sat May 15, 5 pm, FREE
