because Sharon Jones brings back soul/funk like noone's business, and she used to be a corrections officer at Riker's Island, so she can lay down the law. or at least the corrections.

Better sounding, better looking, more talented than Amy Winehouse, and a great actress too. I loved her in The Great Debaters with Denzel.

Because my band wouldn't of found itself in such a way if it weren't for her record (100 days 100 nights). Because I wouldn't of learned what it means command the attention of an audience and own the shit out of every note I sing If hadn't played her in my room until the needle broke. And because she SHAKES that ass.

Ms. Sharon Jones's voice is pure heart and soul and the Dap Kings help add to the full potential of this band. It reminds me of my daddy's old records he used to play to soften the blow of another hard working day. Really beautiful music.

B/c the 40 year old blues/funk keyboard musician named Keith who used to crash on my couch in exchange for 40's of Mickey's and cheap Taco Bell burritos always used to walk out of the shower naked, singing loudly at the top of his lungs "100 Days, 100 Nights." I had just assumed it was some Robert Johnson type song that he was butchering. Then I heard the actual Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings version, and I knew that he had REALLY butchered the song. This band is pure soul.

Sharon is amazing and has been doing what she's been doing for years and years without compromise. It's awesome to see women in music today who can simply get on stage and blow people away with talent instead of ridiculous costumes and gimmicks to make up for a complete lack of personality.

Oh yeah, and the Dap Kings aren't too shabby themselves!

Oh, Mylanta would I love to win this prize! Sharon's moves is hotter than Janet Jackson, and a "rare 45" would be the groove grease to my funk locomotive of vinyl. That slipmat would also be rocked with pride, fo sho, so hook a brotha up with some tunes!
