Nick Jaina Parties In Slowmo

Posted by Mark Lore on Mon, Jun 14, 2010 at 3:42 PM

I still can't figure out how they do that effect where everything moves in slow motion but stays in sync with the song. Then again, it wasn't until last year that I found out Tauntauns weren't real (thanks, mom).

Director Joshua Jay Elliott works that little trick in the new beautifully shot, black-and-white video from Nick Jaina. "Another Kay Song" off Jaina's new record A Bird In the Opera House features appearances from some familiar faces as they sip wine and chat it up... I wonder what they're talking about? I also wonder if "Partygoer Number Six" ever gets that wine stain out of his shirt.

They shoot the video in double (or triple or quadruple) speed and then slow it down by half (or a third or a fourth) and put it to the regular audio. I saw Mariah Carey doing it on Making The Video, like, 10 years ago, and between the fan blowing her hair sexily in the wind and the chipmunk audio, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
