Damien Jurado Added to Portland Folk Festival

The Portland Folk Festival has announced a couple additions to the lineup, including Damien Jurado, Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary), the Brothers Young, Vagabond Opera, and a screening of 1941 Woody Guthrie documentary Roll on Columbia, to be accompanied by a tribute concert to Guthrie. The festival now stretches four days (August 19-22) and tickets are a mere $30. That's $7.50 a day, less than the cost of lunch.

Documentaries:

Roll Out Cowboy - Documents the travels of Sandman the Rappin' Cowboy in the leadup to the election in 2008, traveling from red state to blue state and capturing the challenges he faces as a cowboy who raps.

Roll On Columbia
- A documentary from 1941 that follows Woody Guthrie's trip with his family from Southern California to Portland, OR where the BPA paid him to write 26 songs in 30 days.
