22 days until the 2010 PDX Pop Now! Festival kicks off. Until then, take a minute to get a little better acquainted with a couple of acts that will be performing. You'll thank us later.

Atriarch are not the token black metal band at an otherwise lighter festival—they've thoroughly earned the spot. Tapping into the dirge and doom of the Pacific Northwest, they opened for USBM giants Wolves in the Throne Room at Rotture earlier this year.

AU—pronounced "ay-you"—is the project of multi-instrumentalist Luke Wyland, now joined with drummer Dana Valatka. Below is the gorgeous opener from last year's promising Versions EP.

AU - "Ida Walked Away"

The PDX Pop Now! Festival takes place from July 30 — August 1 at Rotture (320 SE 2nd Ave, Free to all ages)
