PDX Pop Now Primer: Billygoat, Blue Cranes

Posted by Ethan Jayne on Sat, Jul 10, 2010 at 5:40 PM

20 days until the 2010 PDX Pop Now! Festival kicks off. Until then, take a minute to get a little better acquainted with a couple of acts that will be performing. You'll thank us later.

Part ambient wall of sound, part performance art, all visual experience, Billygoat project their own stop-motion short films and soundtrack them live. MP3 below, but you've got to see it to capture it all—Sunday, 8/1 at 5:30, in case you were wondering.

Billygoat - "Dioscuri III"

Experimental jazz quintet Blue Cranes channel the spontaneity and dynamism of free jazz into melodic, challenging compositions that will have the jazzniks and the indie kids boppin' side by side.

Blue Cranes - "Inner Dialogue"

The PDX Pop Now! Festival takes place from July 30 — August 1 at Rotture (320 SE 2nd Ave, Free to all ages)
