PDX Pop Now Primer: Krebsic Orkestar, Kusikia

Posted by Ethan Jayne on Mon, Jul 19, 2010 at 5:39 PM

11 days until the 2010 PDX Pop Now! Festival kicks off. Until then, take a moment to get a little better acquainted with two of the acts that will be performing.

Krebsic Orkestar is a Balkan gypsy brass ensemble that sometimes tops out at fifteen members, sharing the haunting, infectious Eastern Folk with us Western folk.

Krebsic Orkestar - "Bolujem Ja"

Originally from Tacoma, Kusikia (pronounced "Koo-See-Kee-Ah") jazzily contort and experiment with the wailing peaks and hushed valleys of guitar and drums based post-rock.

Kusikia - "Shaker"

The PDX Pop Now! Festival takes place from July 30 — August 1 at Rotture (320 SE 2nd Ave, Free to all ages)
