PDX Pop Now Primer: Operative, Parenthetical Girls

Posted by Ezra Ace Caraeff on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 3:47 PM

8 days until the 2010 PDX Pop Now! Festival kicks off. Until then, take a moment to get a little better acquainted with two of the acts that will be performing.

Seattle transplant Scott Goodwin's Operative is at the forefront of a glorious sound uprising, combining dense noise and techno beats you can feel in your chest. You might need to lie down when they are done.

Operative - "Pulse"

Fronted by onetime Mercury word jockey Zac Pennington, the Parenthetical Girls never skimp on the drama and pageantry in their delectable art-pop sound. After an extended period of live show dormancy the band is back, armed with a new lineup and new five-part (!) twelve-inch EP and video series.

Parenthetical Girls - "Evelyn McHale"

The PDX Pop Now! Festival takes place from July 30—August 1 at Rotture (320 SE 2nd), free, all ages
