Another week, another Mercury music section to read while you bid on the autopsy tools used to dissect the corpse of one Elvis Aaron Presley. Hey, this scalpel still smells like barbiturates and peanut butter! I want my money back!

With the forthcoming release of Mines, it's clear that Menomena is the most fascinating band in Portland. We spend time with Danny Seim and Brent Knopf and examine their highly dysfunctional—yet still oddly functional—relationship.
LISTEN:

Menomena - "Killemall"

WIth a new album under their belts, we talk to Blitzen Trapper frontman Eric Earley about Destroyer of the Void and his dad being a total liar.
LISTEN:

Blitzen Trapper - "Dragon's Song"

Bangs! Bangs! Bangs! The Kill Rock Stars trio Bangs reunite for a rare series of shows to help a friend in dire need.
LISTEN:

Bangs - "Into You"

How many goths does it take to change a lightbulb? Well, don't ask Zola Jesus this, her dramatic music transcends such pesky genre labels. Also, the correct answer is "what's a lightbulb?"
LISTEN:

Zola Jesus - "Manifest Destiny"

Twin Sister are a band of big ideas and even bigger surprises. Also, this is the first article ever that mentions both Pitchfork and Edible Arrangements in the same sentence. We're very proud of this fact.
LISTEN:

Twin Sister - "All Around and Away We Go"
