The 2010 PDX Pop Now! Festival kicks off this weekend. Until then, take a moment to get a little better acquainted with two of the acts that will be performing.

The howling and growling blasts of all-grrl punk trio Tiny Knives—pictured above with Stankhouse Records labelmates Here Comes A Big Black Cloud—are immediate and thrashable, steeped in Northwest punk traditions past and present.

Joe Haege (31 Knots) and Corinna Repp's Tu Fawning—now a four piece with the addition of Toussaint Perrault and Liza Reitz—makes organic, ethereal washes of psychedelic pop.

Tu Fawning - "Out Like Bats"

The PDX Pop Now! Festival takes place from July 30 — August 1 at Rotture (320 SE 2nd Ave, Free to all ages)
