It's no secret that this paper is quite keen on the enigmatic Zola Jesus and that her Stridulum EP would top my year end EP list, if I was dorky enough to compile such things (the obligatory top ten LP list is enough). Now Ms. Jesus—or Nika Roza Danilova—has a new EP, Valusia scheduled for release on October 12. Want to hear the new single? Of course you do.

Want to see the video for "Sea Talk" where Danilova gets all Poltergeist ("Stay away from the light!") with a television set? Of course you do.
But that ain't all. Danilova keeps occupied with a bevy of side projects, ranging from the collaborative Former Ghosts (with Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu) to the vocoder-heavy dance pop of Nika+Rory (Danilova, plus touring bandmate Rory Kane). While her work under the Zola Jesus moniker is deathly serious, Nika+Rory is pure dancefloor guilty pleasures. I can't decide which I like more.
