Singing Cowboys and the Pendleton Round-Up

The Sweetheart of the Rodeo
  • The Sweetheart of the Rodeo!

This week, the Pendleton Round-Up celebrates this 100th Anniversary and us city-slickers are vaguely reminded that the folks just east of us are living like it's the Wild West. While we scour thrift stores for flannels from the town's woolen mills and Wrangler jeans to wear to the next indie rock show, cowboys and girls and coming from all over to actually wrangle shit. With, like, a real lasso that they tied themselves.

So now, you can listen to cowboy songs all day. To get you started, here's a lovely tune written by Cole Porter and performed by the King of the Singing Cowboys, Roy Rogers and his tap-dancing horse, Trigger.

I would like to see Roy Rogers sing that pretty while he tries to milk a wild cow.
