On this sunny, fall Portland day, very few things could capture it as well as the new video from Benoit Pioulard, the non de plume of Portland musician Tom Meluch, who escapes prison to roam through vast open fields, dense forests, and serene streams, only to be rewarded with a flask of liquor. The video for "A Coin On the Tongue," from Pioulard's latest Kranky release Lasted, was directed by New York filmmaker Daniel Algarin, who used these striking natural backdrops to match the peaceful, atmospheric vocals, screen-door obscured guitar strums, and laid-to-rest boom bap. It's quite lovely. Watch this video, then go outside.
