Washington State: Not Loco for Lokos

Posted by Ethan Jayne on Wed, Nov 10, 2010 at 4:11 PM

Sad news for any Washingtonians who happen to enjoy an extra little pep of caffeine as a complement to their 24 ounce, 12% alcohol, super-sugary malt beverage. As previously reported by Sarah Mirk over in Blogtown, Washington State's Liquor Control Board has voted to ban sales of alcoholic energy drinks like Four Loko and Joose.

Sorry, Washington—you can come down to Portland for a Loko any time. If it makes you feel any better, I'm drinking a few in your honor right now. Feelin' kinda tingly. Now join me in pouring out a little in remembrance—not too much though, that's contraband now—and enjoy some of the creativity that has sprung from the bubbling, artificial-watermelon-flavored fount of the "blackout in a can" drinks. Also, is it normal for my eye to twitch this much?
