It's been NEARLY THREE DAYS since this blog last referenced our love for the work of Merrill Garbus (better known as tUnE-yArDs). So, it seems appropriate to post a few recent bits of Garbus gab, beginning with an interview segment aired on this morning's All Things Considered. As prompted by an adorable grandfather radio broadcaster, Garbus discusses the loop pedal plight, (grandpa: "I've read that you play that looping machine with your stocking feet!") her trip to Africa, the recent expansion of her music and more. Give it a listen.

Also, this morning's morbidly-obese Sunday Times published this relatively inane article on the recent mainstream use of the Ukelele. However, Garbus has a good bit in there, wherein she briefly describes her methods concerning the tiny little instrument made for gargantuan Hawaiian men. (And good lord, not you, Eddie Vedder!) It's conveniently-located at the end of the article; I suggest you just scroll down.
The mind-shattering w h o k i l l is on shelves this Tuesday; you can hear it in its entirety for another day, before you go out and buy it. If you have not yet listened, DO IT NOW.
And, as a gentle reminder; tUnE-yArDs will be playing not one, but two shows in Portland on April 28th. One will be a very special all-ages instore at Everyday Music (downtown location), and the other, a full-band performance (21+) at the Doug Fir with Buke & Gass and White Hinterland.
I suppose that should cover it for another few days.
