Tunnels - The Blackout

Local cosmic traveler Nick Bindeman has released several small-run cassettes and CD-R's as Tunnels over the years, but we haven't heard from him since the excellent In Between Dreams came out two years ago. That's too long to wait once you've had a taste of the stuff—heady mixtapes that jump from cold wave to new age to a double-date with Boyd Rice and Jack Rose on the beach in Bali. I guess we've got to cut the guy a break though; he's been too busy trip-ripping for Eternal Tapestry and Jackie-O Motherfucker. Well, we won't have to wait much longer. The Blackout will be released August 16th on Thrill Jockey, and it promises to comprise his most direct and accessible music to date. If the video for "Crystal Arms" is any indication, fans of Cabaret Voltaire, Silk Flowers, and Throbbing Gristle better take note.
