The Great Idea festival returns to the Enchanted Forest this summer! It's a full day of music at the Salem-area amusement park, which is the most magical place in the world—it's worth a visit even without a music festival.

But on Friday, August 10, the Great Idea brings 20 area bands to the fairytale-themed wonderland, including some of Portland's biggest and best, such as Quasi, Typhoon, and the Builders and the Butchers, and a secret unnamed guest. There's also a beer garden this year, with brews from Gilgamesh Brewing, and the day kicks off at 2 pm with a parade from area act Tent City. Performers have been divided into two discrete categories this year:

Electric Headliners:
Quasi, Typhoon, Porches, The Builders and the Butchers, The Peculiar Pretzelmen, Tango Alpha Tango, Apheliotrophic Orchestra, Hustle and Drone, Symmetry/Symmetry, a parade put on by Tent City, and a super-secret band that won’t be announced until the festival

Acoustic Acts:
Hawkmeat, Lone Madrone, Alameda, Rich McCloud, Coot and Codger, His Name Shall Breathe, Jon Fro, Succulent Dish, The Strangled Darlings

Enchanted Forest, 8462 Enchanted Way SE, Turner, OR, Fri Aug 10, 2 pm-dark, $22-30 (includes all-day park admission); presale tickets available at Salem's Ranch Records, the Gilgamesh Lounge, and at greatideafest.com
