Bob Mould's new song "The Descent" is outstanding, and thankfully there's an outstanding video to match. Shot right here in Portland and environs by director Alicia J. Rose, it shows Mould living the New American Dream: leaving a shitty corporate job (whether willingly or no), walking out into nature, and becoming one with the forest. Yeah, man. (The sequel shows Mould catching squirrels with his bare teeth and whittling a fax machine out of pieces of birchbark.) Spot the Portland locations; name the elevator cameos; marvel at what a fucking beautiful part of the world this is.
Mould's new album Silver Age comes out September 4, and he'll be in town on Wednesday, September 19 to perform Silver Age AND Sugar's classic 1992 album Copper Blue at the Wonder Ballroom.
