And And And's New New New Song Song Song

Posted by Ned Lannamann on Wed, Oct 24, 2012 at 3:53 PM

Hey hey hey! Here's a new song song song from And And And! And fittingly for fans of triple word scores, it's coming out on a brand-new 7-inch from Thing Thing Thing, the San Diego record label run by Rafter Roberts, who And And And drummer Bim Ditson says is the "coolest dude ever." In addition to releasing it on his label, Roberts engineered, mixed, and mastered everything for the release.

This video for "The Joy of Cooking," shot by Lizeth Santos, sees the Portland dudes recording the song at Singing Serpent Studio in San Diego back in late January. It's a terrific track, which you might recognize from And And And's live shows, but this recording sounds phenomenal, with an eerie trumpet hook, a howl-along chorus, and a super-thick gut-punching bottom end. Now I'm all antsy to hear the rest of the new stuff.

The 7-inch is titled No Party, and includes four tunes:

The Joy of Cooking
Holy Fucking Matrimony
Old Folks Home
Not Going to the Party
It is scheduled for a digital release on November 13, and a physical release sometime shortly after that. I imagine And And And will likely play a release show for it, too, but in the meantime, they're playing on Saturday, November 3 on the bill with Cleveland's Mr. Gnome at the Star Theater.
