Shot on their recent jaunt, which skipped over Portland but hit Eugene, the video for "Dead Now" is more or less your standard tour video, but the song itself introduces some new elements for Frightened Rabbit. The opening rhythm—a loop with an almost '60s R&B dance feel to it—begins the song in a slightly deceptive vein, before the band's trademark moroseness kicks in. Grant Hutchison's falsetto backing vocals are all over this, and the song is closer to soul and R&B than most things they've done thus far. And the good news is, it still manages to sound like Frightened Rabbit.
Soundcloud of the track here. Frightened Rabbit's upcoming album, Pedestrian Verse, comes out next year, and they'll play Portland after it comes out, I'm pretty sure.
